School Policies and Procedures

Addresses

Residential addresses as well as telephone numbers of students, parents and guardians should be current.

Please notify the Administrative Officer immediately and in writing of any changes.

A Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC) is scheduled thrice within the school year. Parents are requested to attend the scheduled PTC’s to discuss about your child’s performance and behavior in school.

Parents who wish to confer with their child’s teacher other than during the scheduled PTC may do so by making an appointment at least two days before through the Administrative Office

The school building opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 7:00 p.m.

Students should just be dropped off in the school’s main entrance where they will be ushered to their respective classrooms or (for students who arrive early) to a designated waiting area.

For security purposes and as a means to control foot traffic, ONLY STUDENTS will be allowed to enter the school premises.  Grade school students will not be allowed to proceed to their respective rooms without the adviser or any teacher present inside the room. Parents and guardians/yayas will not be allowed to enter and loiter the school premises.

Students arriving 15 minutes after class time should be taken to the administration office for tardy pass which should be given to the adviser immediately for record keeping.

Parents are required to submit a Fetcher’s Information Sheet upon registration.  Only persons listed on this sheet will be allowed to fetch a student.  A Fetcher’s Card will be issued on the first day of classes.  This Fetcher’s Card should be presented to the teacher and/or teacher aide before the child is dismissed. If it gets lost, a letter of request must be forwarded to the Administrative Officer for a second Fetcher’s Card.  Photocopying or any unauthorized duplications of the Fetcher’s Card is not allowed.

The administrators, teachers, non-academic and security personnel join efforts to oversee the fetching areas during crucial periods during the day.  You can expect many of us to be present at the designated areas to attend to your children’s needs.  However, fifteen (15) minutes after dismissal time, the students will be under the care of our non-academic staff and the guard.  Teachers shall return to their respective classrooms to resume their classroom work.

Children should be picked up on time.  For us, security is a prime concern.  We are aware that children may be upset if there is undue delay.  If you are unable to fetch your child on time, please call us.

For those who wish to celebrate their birthday parties in school, the parents should inform the class teacher at least one (1) week before the date of the celebration.

The celebration will not be allowed to disrupt the class activity for the day. Parents are requested to prepare only simple merienda that the class can enjoy during their snack/lunch time.

Fast food meals SHALL NOT be allowed in school.

Use only reusable plates and utensils. Food in styro foam packs, plastic bubble packages, disposable paper plates, plastic tumblers, spoon and forks SHALL NOT be allowed in school.

Balloons as party favors are DISCOURAGED as they harm the environment.

On this special day, the celebrant may come to school in civilian clothes.

Classes are automatically suspended, without need for any announcement from the school administration, under the following conditions:

  1. During regular holidays or when declared as a special non-working holiday by the Office of the President of the Philippines or, in the case of local holidays, by the Mayor of the Quezon City;
  2. When Typhoon Signal Number 1 or above is raised in the National Capital Region (NCR) before 8:00am;
  3. When declared before 8:00am by national government agencies, such as the Office of the President, the Department of Education (DepEd), or the National Disaster Coordinating Council specifically for the National Capital Region; and
  4. When declared before 8:00am by the Office of the Mayor of Quezon City.

In the event that classes are suspended in view of unfavorable weather conditions or circumstances beyond the control of the school, and to avoid possible confusion as to which schedule to follow, the contingency schedule below for the exams will be observed.

Regardless of whether classes are suspended within the day, when some of the exams have already been given, or early in the morning before classes begin, the original schedule of the rest of the exam week will remain.

The exams that may be affected by the mid-day/whole day class suspension will be rescheduled as an extra day at the end of the originally scheduled exam week.

We recognize the need for clear and frequent communication between home and school. Thus, we will send home a packet of student work every Friday in your child’s Home-School Folder for preschool and/or a Reminders Notebook for grade school. We request that you cover the said notebook with clear plastic to make it more durable to last the whole school year. Quarterly, a copy of the newsletter per grade level will also be given to you thru your child.

Once you receive the teacher-parent form kindly do the following:

  • At the front of the packet there will be a teacher-parent form, with room for comments.
  • Affix your signature on this form and return it through your child the next school day. This form will help us keep track of whether or not you are receiving information about how well your child is doing in the program. The form also allows you to communicate with us without having to call us on the phone.

Please make it a habit to check the Home-School Folder and Reminders Notebook regularly for any letters, reminders or school circulars. The school will not be accountable to any incident or consequence should parents fail to take note of this matter. School forms/ reply slips and other circulars should be properly accomplished and submitted to the teacher promptly. It is important that all letters and circulars sent by the school be acknowledged by submitting the properly accomplished reply slip.

Circulars which require payments would need to be coursed through the School Cashier.

Parents shall be notified of field trips in advance. Their children will only be allowed to join a field trip if the parent or guardian return a fully accomplished parent consent slip or reply slip.

Parents, guardians or yayas may accompany the child only when requested by the teacher. The accompanying adult shall be informed of any fees that may be charged for the trip.

Children are encouraged to bring their own packed lunch or snack in a lunch box everyday or may opt to get a food package from the canteen.

Parents should provide a variety of healthful snack/meals for his/her child.

Parents should inform the child’s class adviser as well as the canteen operator for any known food allergies their child might have as well as other conditions that may be triggered by certain food and/or drink.

Packed merienda and other hot food are available at the JDSC canteen.  Arrangements for students to avail of the service may be made directly with Mrs. Gerwin Legazpi.

Each class shall elect one parent representative and an assistant parent representative to help teachers coordinate activities.

Due to the limited parking space, the school shall designate the first 4 parking slots as the drop off zone to allow ease of access and a more secure unloading of passengers.  Vehicles shall only be given a maximum of 60 seconds to load and unload passengers one hour before class starts and within one hour after dismissal.

Children in waiting vehicles should be strictly supervised by an accompanying adult at all times.  The school will not be responsible for any accident involving children who are waiting in their own cars.

Students are expected to maintain prompt and regular attendance in all classes. Daily attendance is checked. Encourage your child to attend class regularly. Parents and guardians are expected to cooperate with the school in making students understand the importance of regularity of attendance. Do not allow your child to miss school except for reasons of illness such as fever, diarrhea, mumps, sore eyes, chicken pox, measles, coughs and cold and other communicable diseases. In such cases, it is required that you present a medical certificate that your child is ready to attend class again.

It is important for children to attend classes on time. If a child needs to be dismissed earlier than the regular scheduled time, which is subject for approval, the teacher and Administrative Officer should be notified in writing by the parent/guardian.

An excuse slip signed by the parent/guardian should be presented to the teacher upon the child’s return to school after an absence.

Your child is too sick to attend school when they are displaying one of the following symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Undiagnosed rash
  • Headache
  • Red eyes with discharge
  • Nose with colored discharge that requires constant wiping
  • Cannot participate in the daily activities of the program

If your child develops any of these symptoms at school, you will be contacted and asked to pick up your child immediately. If you cannot be reached within 30 minutes, we will call one of your approved contacts. No medication will be given to any student by any teacher or staff. Parent/s will be asked to come to school to attend to their child.

Your child may return to school when he or she is symptom-free for at least 24 hours or has been on antibiotics for the appropriate time as determined by your child’s pediatrician. If your child has been seen by a doctor and is told he or she may return sooner than 24 hours, please provide a medical certificate from the doctor. Upon your child’s arrival, your child’s teacher will conduct a health check to ensure the child is free of fever and any other obvious symptoms.

Remember, proper hand washing at home helps prevent the spread of germs. Wash your hands and the hands of your child often.

In cases of emergency or injury, the child will be taken to the Metro North Medical Center and the school will notify the parents.  All expenses thereby will be for the account of the child’s parents.

If a child needs to take any medication within class hours, an adult from the family or caregiver may be allowed to enter the classroom to administer the needed medication. Never put medicine in your child’s bag and/or lunch bag.

Except when the teacher has given prior announcement, do not allow your child to bring toys and gadgets to school. Guns, swords and any other toy of violent nature as well as game consoles (eg. PSP, iPad, tablets, etc) ARE NOT ALLOWED in school.

Both boys and girls everyday must wear rubber shoes. Rubber shoes with in-line wheels however will not be allowed for these are proven to have caused a number of accidents in school.

We encourage simplicity, thus, wearing of jewelry is discouraged.

IDs should be worn to school daily.

The accomplished Fetcher’s Information Sheet submitted in the school office will serve as a valid pass. The Head Security will not allow any student to go home without an authorized fetcher. In case there will be a different fetcher, an authorization letter signed by the parent/s with valid identification card of both parties (parent and fetcher) must be presented to the Head Security and school office ahead of the dismissal time.   For verification, the Head Security will have to call the parents/guardians regarding the said matter.   A filled out form must be accomplished before proper release of the student.
