About Education is Hope Philippines Scholarship

The school believes that all Filipinos should have access to high-quality education to address the biggest problem in the country–- poverty. But poverty is also a big barrier that keeps today’s Filipino children from getting the education they deserve. Helping children receive high quality education means lifting families out of poverty. This is the very reason the school established the Education is Hope Scholarship Program in 2011. Presently, the school supports at least 30 preschool, elementary, and high school scholars who come from impoverished communities in the Philippines.

Education is Hope Philippines Scholarship

The Education is Hope Philippines Scholarship is awarded to exceptional students who demonstrate diligence and determination in her/his studies but lack the financial capacity to access high-quality education in JDSC. It is our mission to help children make the best of their skills and realize their full potential regardless of backgrounds.

Our Scholars

Mhykaila Calunsag (Grade 9 student)

“I started studying in JDSC when I was in fifth grade. When I first came here, I was just a shy student. I didn’t know how to speak in public, in front of many people. I wasn’t even good at speaking in English at that time. I also didn’t know that I had talents and that I’d be able to show it to others.  JDSC helped me improve my skills and come out of my shell. I started participating in events. I performed a lot, I joined the hip hop group, band, floorball team, and more. Because of JDSC, I was also able to appreciate nature more. I also met and learned from a lot of great people here. Having many caring supporters who want the best for you is such a heartwarming feeling, and I’m just so lucky and grateful to be here.”

Yanna Daliwan (Grade 8 student)

From the day I started studying in JDSC, I have experienced many things that I know are rarely available to other children. It’s a great opportunity to study at this private school as I learned so much. I gained more self-confidence, and I am now able to express myself in front of many people in both English and Filipino. I was given the opportunity to learn and play floorball as well as hone my dancing skills.  Thanks to JDSC, my knowledge about the environment and other things expanded even more. I hope that in the future,  there will be more students like me, who will get accepted here and get the chance to achieve their dreams.”

Rommel Bronda (Grade 8 student)

I am proud to be here in JDSC. They teach us important things in life, such as helping other people, and the importance of protecting and preserving our nature.  My knowledge about various things expanded even more. They taught me to believe in myself, have confidence, and to socialize with other people. It’s really fun studying here because the people are loving, thoughtful, caring, and understanding. I am truly grateful for JDSC because they did not only help me to become a better student, but a better citizen.
